Fleetwood Rv - Bouncing dash board
Anybody experience the entire dashboard bouncing when driving down a freeway/street that is fairly well maintained? I can only see two L-angle braces under the dash, which doesn't seem like enough to support the entire unit.
They are not loose. I can't move the dash by hand when stationary. I also don't know why this site makes me use more words than necessary to explain the problem. Never seen something like this.
So here I am, making up words to fill in the minimum 100 word requirement. Not there yet. Still ten words to go.
This is pretty weird, so, blah, blah, blah..... I have entered more than 100, but it wants more
Reason of review: Bad quality.
Preferred solution: improve production quality.

Can anyone post some pics of the location on the screws/bolts? I have a 2013 Storm and my dash is about to shake to pieces.
It's not your dash that's loose it's your Motor Home body that's moving. there are two places to look for sheered bolts First open the engine compartment to the far left and right there is a vertical angle that secures the fire wall to the side of the motor home.
check these's first then were undersized on mine and sheared off.
put a socket on them to check them the undercoating holds the bolt heads in place even if they are sheared. Second, look in the wheel wells along the side of the motor home body there are bolts the hold the body to the floor pan, these were sheared on mine as well.
Fleetwood missed 99 screws in my overhang and they take ZERO responsibility
Bouncing Dashboard !
I believe I have found the problem, Yes the bolts / screws that secure the Dash bulkhead to the side of the MH were sheared off.
According to the drawings there should be 6 3/8" x 1" bolts.
My bracket only has 3 holes in it to begin with and it appears that only 1- #10 screw was installed.
Currently looking for the best way to re-alien the bracket and secure to drawing.
Has anyone done this? I could use some advice.
Update, It wasn't the dashboard that was bouncing! IT WAS THE MOTORHOME SIDE WALL!!!!!!!After spending hours under my rig and determining what had failed and to what extent, this is what I've found.1.
Only 1 #10 screw was install on the vertical bracket, were the drawing calls for 6 and it was undersized.2. there are 5 screws that run Horizontally that attach the floor structure to the side wall they are located in the wheel well. All of these screws were also sheared off and were not to drawing. If you look up and see the bolt heads don't assume there not sheared, the undercoating hold them in place.3.
After carefully lifting the side wall back to its with a original location with a bottle jack and a steel bar, I removed all the existing screws and drilled new holes and install 5/16 x 1 steel self taping bolts NOT SELF DRILLING, in both the vertical and horizontal rails.
( if you use steel bolts make sure you use a PTFE sealant to prevent galvanic corrosion). I used Tef-Gel.Results:My dash is as solid as a rock.
Thanks so much for the fix!! I have a 2017 Bounder with the same issue.
Passenger side only had two screws that were ready to fall out. The 2 on the drivers were gone.
Did what you said cans itโs fixed. Thanks again!
Yes I have a 2016 storm 35sk and the drivers side bounce's so much that it split the plastic trim strip above the dash.
If you find out why. please let me know. Bruce at beschill@***.com
I just purchased, used, a 2014 fleetwood storm and on the long drive home from the dealer discovered the same problem. I also tried looking and couldnt move it manually.
I brought it into my dealer and they located some broken bolts connecting the dash. They were located at the extreme ends under the hood.
Thank you for pointing me it the right direction. If your repair did not include replacing the screws in the floor as well you will may what to look at them as well
I have the same issue with my 2010 Encounter. Contacted Fleetwood and they do not want to pay for the repairs. Clearly a manufacturer defect!
